Currently a Lead Designer for the Boston Herald, James Warren previously was an Illustrator and Designer on the prestigious A1 Advance Team for Gannett's Asbury Park, NJ Design Studio… a Staff Artist and Designer for the Cape Cod Times… and served in other positions for Newhouse and Gannett newspapers in New York and New Jersey. With more than 35 years of professional experience, he started his career as an Illustrator freelancing to magazines and newspapers in New York City, including the New York Times.

For 13 years while he worked for the Cape Cod Times, James taught Illustration and Digital Imaging courses at Cape Cod Community College as an Adjunct Art Professor, helping students learn to utilize Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and other tools in creating their art. James’ work has won more than 100 awards from Society for News Design (SND), Print Magazine's Best of the United States Design Competition, The Associated Press and many other regional and global associations.

While some artists specialize in only one style, James’ portfolio exhibits a vast array of styles – from realistic illustrations… to caricatures… to sophisticated caricature and cartoon styles. A visual thinker, James wields a myriad of imaginative ideas, then focuses a keen eye for design to work quickly to produce quality designs under deadline.
